A series of offshore oil discoveries in Namibia's Orange Basin has continued to draw exploration interest from international operators, with several new licence commitments announced over recent months as companies seek acreage near the existing discoveries.
Walvis Bay has emerged as the preferred logistics base for exploration activity in the basin, with support vessel operators and oilfield service companies expanding their presence at the port to serve rigs operating off the southern Namibian coast.
Namibian officials have said they are working on a regulatory and local-content framework intended to ensure the country captures a meaningful share of the economic activity as exploration moves toward potential development decisions.
