The operating partners on Ghana's Jubilee oil field have approved a new round of infill drilling aimed at offsetting the natural production decline typical of a field that has been producing for well over a decade.
The additional wells are expected to be tied back to existing subsea infrastructure, limiting the need for new surface facilities and keeping the project within a relatively contained capital budget compared with a greenfield development.
Ghana's Petroleum Commission said stable output from Jubilee, alongside continued production from the neighbouring TEN field, remains an important contributor to the country's export revenue even as attention increasingly turns to newer discoveries elsewhere along the West African coast.
