Maritime safety authorities across the Gulf of Guinea have issued coordinated advisories warning of elevated swell heights expected to affect coastal waters from Abidjan through Tema, Lagos and Cotonou over the coming days.

Port control units at Takoradi and Tema have asked small craft operators and fishing vessels to monitor conditions closely, while offshore support vessel operators serving rigs off the Ghanaian and Nigerian coasts have been advised to review transfer schedules for personnel and equipment.

No disruption to scheduled container vessel calls has been reported so far, though berthing pilots at several terminals said tug operations could be affected if swell heights exceed current forecasts.
